In partnership with the Sam Hubbard Foundation, Hubbard’s Cupboard serves as an on-site supplement in select schools to provide access to needed supplies “just in time.” For example, when a student needs a new backpack in the middle of the school year or a healthy snack during a long day. Each cupboard will be filled during the school year (customized to each school’s needs) with core school supplies and hygiene products from Crayons to Computers, as well as healthy snacks.
Students without access to adequate resources often face insurmountable challenges. When students have the tools necessary to achieve, the possibilities are endless. According to the 2024 Educator Survey Impact Report, teachers observe that once school supplies are available:
• 89% say students are more engaged in learning as a result
• 82% see students’ self-esteem increase
• 96% say the products received from Crayons allow them to enrich their students’ learning experiences
More details about the program:
21 K-12 schools are currently participating in the program (more than 11,700 students in total)
Each cupboard provides a subset of core supplies, hygiene products, and healthy snacks (customized to each school’s needs)
Cupboards will be restocked throughout the school year (by both a Crayons staff member and a Cupboard Captain)
Schools are selected to receive a Hubbard’s Cupboard if:
55% or more of the school population receives free or reduced cost lunches through the USDA’s National School Lunch Program
Located in one of the 16 counties in Crayons’ service area
And if the school has been in existence for a minimum of ONE year
