PARTNER WITH CRAYONS TO LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD IN THE CLASSROOM
When you support Crayons to Computers’ mission, you help to level the playing field in the classroom by ensuring that teachers can provide their students in need the tools to succeed in school. When students have the tools they need, they are able to complete their work, learn and be successful.
All contributions are welcomed—financial or product donations—and your gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.
There are six main ways to give now:
1. Give Students in need
the tools to succeed.
Examples of what a donation can do:
$25
16 sets of markers
$50
385 pocket folders
$100
Outfit 4 preschool classrooms to start the year
$250
5,000 pencils
$500
285 boxes of jumbo crayons
$1,000
3,125 dry erase markers
$2,500
20,833 glue sticks
$5,000
500 backpacks filled with basic supplies
2. Donor Advised Funds
Donor advised funds (DAFs) are a popular method of conducting charitable giving. A DAF enables donors to make a charitable gift to the fund, qualifying for a current income tax deduction (when applicable) and retaining the privilege of suggesting grants from the fund as the donor wishes.
Crayons to Computers is grateful to receive grants from DAFs. If you have a DAF at a community foundation, Jewish Federation, or other provider, you can make a gift to Crayons. In your fund’s usual suggestion process, simply indicate Crayons to Computers (tax ID #31-1507076) as the grant recipient. (The address is 1350 Tennessee Avenue; Cincinnati, OH 45229.)
Donors using Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable or BNY Mellon can easily suggest a grant through the DAF Direct window on this page. Neither you nor Crayons to Computers will incur any transaction fees.
Contact Betsy Wilson, bwilson[at]crayons2computers.org or 513-482-6803, with questions.
3. Qualified Charitable DistributionS (QCD)
1) Are you age 70 ½ or older?
2) Do you have an IRA (individual retirement account)?
If "yes" to both, you can give directly (and NON-taxably) from your IRA to Crayons to Computers. And, this gift will count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) if you are age 72 or older.
The fine print:
Called a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), each taxpayer may donate up to $100,000 per year from his or her IRA (not 401(k) or 403(b)).
The distribution is not included in your adjusted gross income (AGI) and is not deductible to you. However, because the QCD is not included in your income, it provides the same tax benefit as itemizing even if you do NOT itemize!
The check from your IRA must be payable to Crayons to Computers and received by December 31.
Your donation requires a special tax acknowledgment letter for your files.
If you would like to make a QCD to Crayons, please contact your IRA administrator.
4. Stock Gifts
Donating publicly traded, appreciated stocks can be a very effective way to make a gift. By giving securities you:
Receive a tax deduction at the stock’s current fair market value.
Avoid capital gains tax.

5. In-Kind Donations
Your donations help to keep our Teacher Resource Center and Mobile Outreach Program fully stocked, enabling teachers to shop for the items they need for their classrooms. Crayons happily accepts donations of inventory that can be used in the classroom. Please think about usefulness in the classroom, consult the list of items we cannot accept and contact us with questions about making in-kind donations: 513-482-3290 or email info[at]crayons2computers.org.
MON–THU • 9AM–4PM (or by appointment)
All donations should be made at our loading dock (west parking lot entrance). Donors can choose contactless drop-offs in the receptacles or call 513.482.3290 for assistance upon arrival.
6. Honor Roll
We would like to invite you to join a group of special supporters—The Honor Roll! Through recurring donations, this membership is easy and convenient all while sustaining and growing the number of students in need served.
When families struggle to pay rent and buy groceries, school supplies are not a priority. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 45% of children in the city of Cincinnati live below the federal poverty level and across the region, nearly 20% of children live in poverty.
TEACHER WISH LIST
Our teacher wish list features the items most needed in our teachers’ classrooms.
ITEMS WE CANNOT ACCEPT
While we appreciate your in-kind donations, not all items are ideal for teachers, lawful to distribute or easily stored in—or distributed from—our warehouse. Please refer to our list (below) of items that we generally do not accept. We have provided suggestions for alternate donation sites for you to contact regarding some of the items we do not accept.
COMPUTER DONATIONS
For donation of multiple work stations (laptops, desktop computers, and monitors), please contact our partner, I.T. Supply Solutions (link below). For single item donations, Crayons can accept single unit donations (a laptop, a desktop, a monitor) as well as computer accessories, including: keyboards, speakers, mice, printers, etc.
